About the Bottle

This single malt whisky is aged in a combination of French and American oak casks, every tiny batch expressing the unique characteristics of both styles. With incredible complexity and length, Double Cask has a rich palate of sweet malt, dried apricots, honey and freshly baked bread.

Winner of Best Australian Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2018, Sullivans Cove Double Cask is always non-chill filtered and additive free.

Nose

An ocean of apple juice and Stroopwafel awaits… Splash. A biscuit factory follows, with the nose then moving into a mix of fruit (canned fruit salad, glacé cherry, boysenberry ice-cream) and darker earthier notes of salted chocolate, chocolate slice, an herbal liqueur and the browning leaves of an Autumn vineyard.

Palate

Excellent body and texture, with brilliant flow and fill. Orange and poppyseed cake, lamingtons (with the strawberry jam inside), apricot pastries in the oven, flat peaches, and a sweet vanilla flavour. A nice touch of waxy, tropical flowers.

Finish

Chocolate slice really wants to make itself known, alongside caramel fudge. The herbal liqueur present on the nose also comes into play and marries very well with the chocolate and caramel theme. Toasting sourdough, and biscuits. A fun burst of sherbet and banana paddle pop brings brightness to the deep and sultry choc-fest, and the finish is long, lingering and textural.
