European Oak Barrels

European Oak has a strong wood input and leads to a spicier whisky than American Oak. It also grows slower than its American counterpart, making barrels slightly more expensive to produce.

European Oak, grown in northern Spain and Portugal, is typically used to make barrels for the Sherry and Port industries— leading to a steady supply of Sherry and Port Casks for use as second fill barrels.
