BeoPlay A9 Review – Bang & Olufsen

You can tell a lot about someone by the way they style their home – the objects they surround themselves with speak volumes about who they are, and the BeoPlay A9 screams style and audio sophistication.

Bang & Olufsen have really hit the mark with their B&O Play range, in fact, the BeoPlay H6 is on this top 5 headphones list. Bang & Olufsen do a fantastic job of styling great audio gear in a way that makes you actually want to show them off in your living room.

B&O PLAY delivers stand-alone products with clear and simple operations – portable products that are intuitive to use, easy to integrate into your daily life, and deliver excellent high-quality experiences. – Bang & Olufsen.

The A9 is a beautiful circle, housing 5 perfectly balanced drivers, for clear sound across bass, mids, and treble. The A9 can be mounted directly to the wall but is usually sat on top of three gorgeous Oak, Walnut or Maple legs. You can adjust the sound levels based on its location – ie the bass behaves differently in a corner compared to when its sat out in the open.

A variety of connectivity options make this speaker easy to use; Bluetooth 4.0, Apple AirPlay, and streaming directly from Spotify seems like the most useful of the lot, but there are also a number of other streaming services supported.

A combination of touch gestures across the top of the unit allows for tactile commands, without the need for ugly buttons. Simply swipe your hand across the top to turn the volume up or down. Rest hand on the top sensor for a few seconds to mute sound. Tap to the right to play next track and left to play previous track, a short tap in the centre to initiate last played source.
