McLaren has announced their newest hypercar, the McLaren Speedtail. The 3rd member of McLarens Ultimate Series following the P1 and Senna. The Speedtail is McLaren’s answer to the Bugatti Chiron and is officially the fastest car McLaren has ever produced.
The Speedtail is in may ways a call back to the McLaren F1. Most notably via the same 3 seat interior layout, avant-garde design, and insane lust for speed. An insane hybrid drivetrain gives the Speedtail an insane top speed of over 400kmh – 12kmh faster than the F1. The engine and electric motors work in tandem to deliver over 1,000 hp with a 0-300kmh of 12.8 seconds – a Bugatti Chiron would need a full 1 second longer to hit this benchmark.
Release is slated for 2020, and at almost $4 Million AUD, these are going to be insanely hard to get your hands on. McLaren is only producing a limited run of 106 cars – the same production count as the McLaren F1.
